Bowmore 12 Year Scotch Whisky

The heart of the Bowmore range, the 12 year old exhibits some beautiful coastal notes with a gentle peat, it is the balance that the floral element presents that makes this a great entry bottling for Bowmore.

Description

Bowmore 12 Years Old Botteling Notes

Complex yet perfectly balanced, the 12 Years Old reflects the raw essence of Bowmore – thrashing waves, windswept landscapes and generations of tradition. Bowmore 12 Years Old has received much critical acclaim; the late, great whisky writer Michael Jackson proclaimed it “remarkably long and complex”. We like to think of it as vanilla ice cream at a beach bonfire.

Tasting Notes

Colour: warm Amber.
Nose: subtle lemon and honey, balanced beautifully by Bowmore’s trademark peaty smokiness.
Palate: sweet and delicious heather honey and gentle peat smoke.
Finish: a long and mellow finish
Comment: great balance between dry smoke and soft fruits.

    Tasting Notes By Dave Broom
Nose: Attractive, perfumed fairly intense maritime nose: dark chocolate, orange peel, quite buttery with dry lavender-tinged smoke.
Palate: Rounded, and soft, then it dries half-way as the peaty notes (hessian, smoke) take over, then comes flowers, parma violet, rose and always those soft fruits.
Finish: Nut and fragrant smoke. Light touch of buttered kippers (a breakfast dram?)
Comment: Great balance between dry smoke and soft fruits.

    Tasting Notes By Michael Jackson
Nose: Emphatic burnt grass. Peaty. Soft smokiness.
Palate: Fragrant smokiness seems to waft against an oily, earthy, background. Some seaweed. Some sherry.
Finish: Not only is the smokiness sustained all the way through, it surges in the finish. Lots of salt, too.
Comment: Glad to see a Bowmore with an age rather than a brand-name.
