The Glenrothes Vintage 1991 Single Malt Speyside Whisky

$1,725

The 1991 is less formal than say the 1992. Enticing, open and refined it is lively and spicy on first meeting followed by a fruity voluptuousness and creamy butterscotch flavours.

This is what we call a conversation dram post lunch or dinner or even, I've heard, mid-afternoon. The point is that it is neither zesty in nature nor so big that it tires. We're told it is dangerously more-ish. This is your warning.

Description

Glenrothes 1991 Tasting Notes by MasterOfMalts.com

The nose is quite fruity and spicy. Notes of liquorice and chocolate, mixed peels, stewed fruits and juicy esters. The palate is quite thick with a light smokiness. Notes of toffee and toasted cereal notes with barley sugariness. Some notes of mixed peels and Madeira with a little cooked fruit. The finish is quite long with juicy sultanas with a spicy, chewy oak.

    Tasting Notes By Dave Broom:
Nose: Weighty and rich: cumin powder, sweet orange peel (and pulp), bitter chocolate torte. Water melts the chocolate and orange together.
Palate: Very dense and fungal, suggesting maturity. Lightly smoked with tannins and a citric/marmalade fruitiness. Balanced and complex.
    Finish: Long, soft and raisined.
Comment: Big and powerful but with sufficient character to cope. Another cracker from Rothes.

  2. admin

    Tasting Notes By Arthur Motley
Nose: Fennel, stewed plums and rhubarb, Juicy Fruit chewing gum, and blackcurrant.
Palate: Complex combination of maltiness (brown toast), wet grass, toffee and cooked fruit.
Finish: Tannins and even a little woodsmoke.
Comment: Impressive, complex Speyside with a pleasing body.
