Description
The Macallan 12 Sherry Bottling Note
A sherry wood matured 12 year old from Macallan, a superbly balanced affair, one of the best of its age group.
Tasting Note by Master of Malt Website
The nose is quite crisp and sweet. There are notes of sultanas and fresh apple blossom. There is a defined floral note with a beautiful sherry, calvados emerges with a tropical fruit note and golden syrup. The palate is of medium-body and quite firm. There are notes of hot pastries and marmalade, sultanas and peels with a developing sweetness from the barley sugar. The finish is of good length with a solid oaked note.

Tasting Notes By Dave Broom of Whisky Magazine:
Nose: Big, with well-balanced sherried notes. Juicy malt, dried fruit (date/fig) Madeira cake. Water brings the sherry notes forward: tea, rubber, oak, but it hasn’t taken over.
Palate: Rich, weighty. Elegant. Orange and light wood.
Finish: Long, oaky and winey.
Comment: Great balance between whisky and wood. To be honest I think this is a better Macallan than the Exceptional Cask.
