Description
This single malt whisky from the Yoichi distillery, stored and matured for 12 years or more, is characterised by the aroma of aged casks tinged with gentle peat and a rich and long-lasting taste. David Broom of whisky magazine calls this dram “Flawless, sweet, dry, deep, light, smoke, flowers, cream, toasty oak” Just Elegant.
Dave Broom’s Tasting Notes
Nose: Smoke again, this time with briny notes and plain oak (almond, pine). There is also real weight behind this. Subtly perfumed mixing heavy flowers with soft/semi dried fruits and hints of cocoa.
Palate: An excellent spread of flavours: cooked apple, fresh apricot, toasted nuts, madeleines, tickle of smoke and a waxy depth.
Finish: Smoked vanilla pod.
